About Artist
Jarret Brown
My photographic journey began in the 1990s capturing the unique underwater world. My underwater photography was an adventure that included over 1,200 dives and mentorship from renowned photographer Alex Mustard. Unfortunately, my exploration of the underwater world ended abruptly in 2019, when I was diagnosed with a rare blood condition which ended my diving and underwater photography. This prompted a re-assessment of priorities and I left my full time job as General Counsel for a leading London Law Firm to prioritise my land-based wildlife photography. This transition deepened my appreciation for the challenges and beauty of the natural world and reinforced my commitment to authentic storytelling. Transitioning to land-based wildlife photography required new techniques and a fresh perspective. Unlike the close encounters possible underwater, photographing animals on land often means working at a distance and adapting to the ever-changing qualities of natural light. Despite these challenges, my affinity for Africa and its wildlife has remained a constant source of inspiration. work aims to present wildlife as it truly is—celebrating both its wonder and its harsh realities, rather than idealizing or “Disneyfying” nature. As an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society, I try to leverage my artistic experience to advocate for conservation and try raise awareness about the threats facing wild animals and their habitats. My images are intended not only to inspire, but also to provoke reflection and action in support of environmental stewardship. If you share an interest in wildlife, conservation, or authentic visual storytelling, I welcome opportunities to connect, collaborate, or discuss how art can drive meaningful change My photographic style is rooted in authenticity. I strive to document nature as it truly is—celebrating its beauty, but also revealing its harsh realities. Too often, images of wildlife are sanitized or “Disneyfied,” glossing over the violence, struggle, and the very real threats posed by habitat destruction and human encroachment. As an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society, I am committed to using my work to raise awareness about the urgent need to protect our wild animals and spaces, while there is still time to make a difference. Through my lens, I invite viewers to witness both the wonder and the vulnerability of the natural world, in the hope that greater understanding will inspire meaningful action
