My passion is wildlife photography. My favorite subject for shooting is parrots in the wild. On of the great things about looking for parrots in the wild is seeing many other typed of animals. I am more than happy to take images of anything that moves. Mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and even insects and other invertebrates are all animals that I am more than happy to see and photograph. Thus, I am not a "birder", and I am not a bird photographer. I am a wildlife photographer. I started taking photos of wildlife in 2026, when I went on a trip to Peru to see parrots in the wild. I did not even own a camera at that time, but I decided that I would need one on the trip. So I rented a camera and had a terrific time taking photos. I also learned what one needed in a camera to take wildlife image. Upon returning home, I bought my first wildlife kit and my journey into wildlife photography began. Somewhat to my surprise, I have found that in addition to parrots, I am very fond of taking photos of wild cats, both large and small, and of raptors, especially falcons and owls. My photography subjects can be found near home, but I also must travel to see parrots and other animals not found nearby, and, thus, I have photographs of animals from North America, Central America, South American, Africa, and Australia. As a neurosurgeon, I am a perfectionist, and I do not like making mistakes. For this reason, I like my images to be scalpel sharp (not tack sharp!). My goal is to take images that show interesting animal behavior and interactions. Sometimes, however, I am so taken with the beauty of an animal, that I think a simply shot showing this is more than adequate. I hope that my life of all things wild comes through in my photography.
