Sanija Graustina is a Latvian photographer based in Northern Norway. Her work explores the relationship between landscape, architecture and human presence, with a particular interest in isolation, memory and the traces people leave behind. Working across the Arctic and the post-Soviet landscape, she is drawn to places where nature and human ambition meet — remote environments, monumental architecture, abandoned structures and spaces shaped by changing histories. Her visual language is quiet and restrained, often reducing a scene to its essential elements: light, space, structure and a sense of presence. Rather than documenting places literally, her photographs look for what remains beneath the visible — the tension between permanence and disappearance, belonging and distance, shelter and exposure.
