Edge of Life 2
In this ongoing project on loss and the passing of life, by observing plant life in particular the tradition of gifted flowers, this photograph is both an exploration and appreciation of the ephemeral and the elegant dignity to be found within the process.
About Artist
Melinda Thompson
Melinda lives in London and graduated in 1989 with a degree in photography from Blackpool College. She spent over 10 years working professionally and travelling globally as a freelance photo assistant, photographer and shoot producer working in advertising, corporate and editorial portraiture and music label commissions. In the 2000’s she continued working in a creative sphere evolving to become a propmaker and sculptor, work included film, theatre and alongside notable British artists. Whilst never losing the passion for her practice, Melinda’s return to photography in recent years has grown through project led work and the evolution of her creative process. During this time Melinda has been examining a number of interests including anthropology and ethnography, science fiction, identity and heritage, whilst also exploring themes of ritual, trauma and otherness. She hopes to continue her work through more projects and public engagement.
