Shall We Dance

A mimic octopus (Thaumoctopus mimicus) glides downward like a parachute after unexpectedly launching itself into the water column. After shooting it against the sand for the past 30 minutes, I had to rapidly adjust my exposure to aim into the sun.

About Artist

Chris Gug

Just call me "Gug" - there are too many Chris's out there! I've been a professional underwater photographer since age 15, have shot in over 60 countries, and while I'm American, I've lived outside the USA for over a decade, split between Turks & Caicos, Papua New Guinea, and currently Indonesia. After running my highly successful underwater fine art gallery in Fort Lauderdale, I've recently handed over the reigns to an excellent art representative, and am enjoying a semi-retirement renaissance consisting of once again being creative and shooting new underwater fine art images for clients and the gallery on an almost daily basis.
