Paul Anderson never planned on becoming an award-winning photographer. What began as a simple hobby quickly became a passion and a relentless pursuit of learning, creativity, and the perfect moment. In just a few years, he progressed from student at McKay Photography Academy to an internationally recognized photographer. Paul’s work spans wildlife, nature, and landscape photography, with an increasing focus on wildlife and the extraordinary moments that exist at the intersection of light, behavior, and emotion. His images have received numerous international honors, including the prestigious Diamond Medal at the International Photographic Competition, along with earning his Master of Photography degree from Professional Photographers of America. Whether photographing jaguars in the shadows of Brazil’s Pantanal, wildlife on the plains of Africa, wolves in Yellowstone, or birds closer to home, Paul strives to create images that go beyond simply documenting a subject. His goal is to capture a moment that makes the viewer stop—and feel something. “If you can’t feel something within your image, neither will your viewer,” Paul says. Today, Paul continues to travel extensively in pursuit of wildlife and compelling natural light while also serving as an instructor with McKay Photography Academy, sharing his knowledge and passion with photographers seeking to develop their own creative vision. Photography, for Paul, is not simply about what was in front of the camera. It is about what the photographer felt in that moment—and finding a way for the viewer to feel it too.
