Mieke Posthumus is a Dutch photographer whose work explores the relationship between beauty and essence. Educated at Fotoschool Statief in Utrecht and Ziris Art & Photography, she developed a thoughtful, minimalist style that balances technical precision with philosophical inquiry. In her minimalist work, Mieke consistently seeks “beauty and essence,” echoing Aristotle’s idea that true beauty rests on a perfect balance that any addition or subtraction will upset. In her images of flowers, she transcend their role as merely attractive objects. She uses them to explore universal personal and social themes—most notably how culture, upbringing, education and character shape what we choose to reveal to the outside world.
