The Silent Palette I
About Artist
Frank Hoogeboom
I started photograph in my teens, mainly for photographing military aircraft at a nearby airbase. Soon I discovered that more could be done with photography but it wasn't until I embarked on a photography trip to Norway when I felt that fine art landscape photography was meant for me. I have been roaming the world since then looking for desolate places where quiet images could be made. Recently, I switched back to a medium format analog camera to reduce the speed of my process and start crafting on an image instead of just collecting data. It takes more time and work but I love the process bringing an image to life. I have always been drawn to black & white photography as it has a timeless feel to it. Besides that, it enables me to focus on shapes and structured without being distracted by bright colors. I do shoot in color occasionally, but in these cases I tend to mute the vibrance of the colors.
