The poisoned arteries of the Amazônia

In the heart of the Amazon, life flows with the river. Children paddle to school, families live on stilted homes, and canoes glide through flooded forests. Yet this harmony is under threat — mercury taints the fish, droughts isolate communities. The river gives life, but now it pleads for help.

About Artist

Ezer Berdugo

I’m of Moroccan descent, born in France, and I moved to Brazil in 2003. My multicultural background has shaped the way I see the world, and I channel that perspective through my images. I first picked up my father’s camera at age 10 during family trips, and that’s when my passion for photography began. After relocating to Canada, I pursued photography professionally, starting out by covering events. Over time, I became drawn to analog photography because it forces me to slow down and make each shot intentional—every pose carefully composed, every frame telling its own story.
