The Black Sea of Oblivion
Geamana is a Romanian village flooded in 1978 by communist authorities with copper mine waste. Its colorful waters hide toxic chemicals and cyanide that submerged 300 homes. Only the church spire remains above the sludge as a symbol of disaster.
About Artist
Marcin Kesek
Marcin Kęsek is a landscape and mountain photographer based in Poland. His work is deeply inspired by wilderness, long mountain journeys, and the raw beauty of nature. Through photography, he captures fleeting moments and emotions, often focusing on the power and atmosphere of mountainous landscapes. Guided more by intuition than rules, he treats the camera as a tool to express a personal connection with nature. His images reflect a search for freedom, silence, and authenticity — elements he finds both in the mountains and in the natural world.
