Shapes of time

I captured this double exposure in camera, in monochrome mode on my Nikon D7500. It doesn't allow me to preview double exposure results so I was pretty stoked when I realized I nailed it. I wanted to capture the ethereal and haunting vibe of this abandoned church through creative and monochrome work

About Artist

Pascale Navarro

I was compelled at a very young age by the power of visual storytelling. My dad was a photography enthusiast: he handed me his Minolta in 1992 and I shot my first roll of black and white film at 16. He passed away in 1994 and never did get to see just how much his love of Photography was successfully passed on to me. A year later I signed up to a 2 year full time photography program and started setting up my first darkroom (of many). After graduating, I worked as a pro in various environments including medical, municipal, advertising and did a lot of freelance work. I've never considered myself to be dedicated to a particular genre of Photography. I'm perpetually inspired by the limitless opportunities I can encounter with my camera. Black and white photography is where it all started for me so I find a strong sense of connection there. Shooting in monochrome mode is an intention I set regularly in my practice and I encourage all of my students to do so. I'm the owner and founder of a small business initiative here on Vancouver Island where I offer customized and personalized photography mentoring to both adults and youths. I approach instruction with a focus on artistry and the creative mindset. Nothing makes me happier than to pass along my love for Photography and inspire someone through their creative journey. I believe mentoring is my purpose. I recently made a comeback shooting film after an absence of just over 15 years. Finding myself once again under the amber glow of the darkroom has been like coming home. I cannot imagine my life without Photography: in fact, I often think it chose me, and not the other way around. It's a part of me, deep rooted in sentiment. It keeps me young, forever inspired by it's mesmerizing power to write stories with Light, and travel through time.
