Riding Childhood

A man rides his bicycle through empty streets on a crisp wintry evening, his laughter silent but heart joyful. With childlike wonder, he pedals freely playing with the wind and shadows. Though alone, his spirit shines bright, capturing the simple happiness of a carefree child in every turn.

About Artist

Sushma Ravi

I’m a photographer with a deep love for abstract and landscape photography, always open to exploring other outdoor genres. Nature constantly amazes me, sparking new ideas, emotions, and perspectives. I’m drawn to the hidden details and patterns that often go unnoticed in daily life. Light, colour, and texture continuously transform the landscapes I encounter, and I strive to capture those fleeting, transformative moments in a way that feels both dreamlike and thought-provoking. My aim is to invite viewers to see the world from a fresh perspective—one that values subtlety, quiet wonder, and emotional connection. Through my lens, I enjoy breaking nature down into its elemental forms. I’m fascinated by the interplay of shape, contrast, and negative space, often using abstraction to encourage reflection and a deeper connection with the environment. Whether it’s the delicate frost on a branch or the layered hues of a distant sky, I hope to evoke feelings that resonate and invite others to pause, notice, and appreciate the beauty in what might otherwise be overlooked. Photography has fundamentally changed how I engage with the world. It has helped me cultivate a more mindful, creative way of seeing—one that I hope to share through my images. For me, photography isn’t just about capturing what’s in front of the camera; it’s about revealing the extraordinary within the ordinary and offering others a way to experience the natural world through a more poetic, contemplative lens. My work has been honoured in several international photography competitions, including: Honorable Mention – Abstract category, Monovisions Photography Awards (2025) Finalist – Abstract category, Fine Art Photography Awards (2019) Honorable Mention – Nature and Wildlife category, Monovisions Photography Awards (2019) These recognitions are a meaningful affirmation of my ongoing passion for exploring nature’s beauty, mystery, and emotional depth through photography. My work explores the intersection of abstraction and landscape through the lens of nature. I’m fascinated by the way light, colour, and texture can transform our surroundings into something both familiar and otherworldly. Driven by curiosity and a deep appreciation for the outdoors, I focus on the often overlooked patterns in stone, the rhythm of tree branches, the shifting tones of light across a foggy field. My approach frequently breaks nature down into elemental forms, using abstraction as a tool to invite stillness, reflection, and connection. I aim to create images that feel both meditative and thought-provoking, encouraging viewers to see the world not just as it is, but as it might be felt. Photography has reshaped the way I experience the world. It has taught me to slow down, observe more deeply, and appreciate the richness of fleeting moments. Through my work, I hope to share this way of seeing—one that values nuance, silence, and the extraordinary beauty found in the quiet details of the natural world.
