Loneliness
This image was originally taken with 4x5" color film, and then converted to B&W. This turtle is still my pet today and is now 8 years old. Each rock was hand painted black on a black background, so when viewed in color, it barely changes at all, except for the color of this little animal.
About Artist
Francisco Saraiva
In 1973, I helped found PHOTOGALERIA, at the time the first initiative in Brazil by dedicated photographers, to sell photography as a work of art, with limited print runs and guaranteed durability. At the time, three exhibitions, between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, BRAZIL. I worked at three large newspapers where, naturally, the focus was on photojournalism, which was a world of infinite possibilities. From 1980 to 1981, experience in an advertising agency: another focus, another target, another type of photography... From 1991 to 1992, living every day in the world of an image bank, I discovered and improved the studio's technique, with products, people, animals, flowers and different themes that could be sold all over the world. I have received several awards, including a gold medal from FIAP, an award from the French magazine PHOTO, among others, until now, 2025, and I have published the book AL-THANI twice so far, with a career spanning 48 years.
