Departure

The Evoluon in Eindhoven, a brutalist former Philips headquarters, already resembles a UFO. By subtly distorting its supporting columns, I create the illusion of lift-off. The intervention shifts the building from static monument to transitional object — suspended between gravity and departure.

About Artist

Christian Walgenbach

Christian Walgenbach is a Germany-based photographer whose work explores structure, perception and spatial order. Shaped by the industrial landscapes of the Ruhr region and the geometry of urban environments, his practice focuses on form, light and reduction. Working primarily with architecture, he investigates the tension between stability and transformation, often moving between documentation and subtle conceptual intervention. His images are characterized by restrained compositions in black and white or carefully reduced color palettes.
