Call of the Kopjes
Photographed in the Serengeti, Call of the Kopjes portrays a lone male lion—Scar—standing sentinel atop a granite outcrop. In this fleeting moment, his stance felt both defiant and timeless. The kopje, more than a perch, was his vantage point—a place of command and refuge above the stormy plains.
About Artist
Alexandra Wood
A lover of art and wildlife, my passion for photography came about by virtue of the fact that I've been privileged to travel extensively growing up and following me kickstarting my career in London. I love exploring, trying new things, and documenting my experiences along the way. Wildlife photography is more than a passion, it's my way of connecting with nature and advocating for its protection. It's about the quiet moments of observing an animal in its natural habitat, the patience required to witness untamed behaviour, and the responsibility of sharing these moments in a way that fosters respect for the natural world. The best shots have always come through patience and understanding, as opposed to interfering with wildlife. A wildlife lover first, and a photographer second - I strive to capture the former's beauty, resilience and vulnerability.
