Cage and Shell
From S_LFL_V_, a book about making peace with the body you happen to have. A man folded down onto a stool until his face was gone, his own hands closed around what was left. Shelter and cage in a single gesture, which is the argument of the whole project.

Beatrix Hinteregger
Bea Hinteregger is a photographer based in South Tyrol, Italy, working almost entirely in black and white. She builds long-form projects around a single person rather than collecting single frames, and returns to the same subject until the work has a shape. S_LFL_V_, her book on self-love, was exhibited on the Baltic island of Usedom, where she also made the reportage series New Beginnings. Spuren der Gewalt (Traces of Violence) is a body of work on violence against women, built in five chapters that move from the act to what is left of a person afterwards: violence leaves traces, on the skin, in the body, in the life. Her portraits have been shown at 1 Bild und 1000 Worte in Brixen. Alongside her own work she teaches at the LIK Academy of Photography and Design. bea-hinteregger.art
