About Artist
Mitar Terzic
My artistic practice begins with a desire to give physical form to ideas, memories, and inner images. Drawing inspiration from history, literature, philosophy, and mythology, I explore how ancient stories and symbols intertwine with contemporary experience. Photography is my primary language, but the creative process begins long before the shoot. I make all the masks, costumes, props, and sets myself, constructing a world in which each image acquires its meaning. I work primarily with analog medium-format cameras. Taking the photograph is the final step in a lengthy process of research, imagination, and hands-on work. Among my significant exhibitions and international appearances are exhibitions in Paris, Arles, and Barcelona, PhotoVisa in Russia, Pingyao Photography Festival, Quanzhou International Image Biennial, Photofairs Shanghai, and Tokyo Gendai. My images remain open to different interpretations. I hope they evoke curiosity, unease, or a memory. For me, creating is a way to explore what I do not yet understand and give it a form that can live beyond me.
