The Reach

"The Reach" is a visual metaphor for unity. Against a starkly divided backdrop, two hands extend across the void—bridging racial, political, and social chasms. It captures the fragile yet powerful moment where difference dissolves into a peaceful, shared humanity.

About Artist

Long Phi Tran

Vietnamese artist Long Phi Tran (b. 1989) is an ink painter based in Ho Chi Minh City. His ink paintings reflect a deep sensitivity to light, void, and movement, where negative space becomes as meaningful as form. His work has received international recognition. In January 2026, his artwork was selected as the cover of Heart Rhythm Journal, published by Elsevier. He has shared his artistic vision through global interviews and features in Spain, The Netherlands, France, Georgia, and Australia as well as a digital showcase in New York’s Times Square. Selected awards and honors include Rank #1 in 'Emptiness' Art Exhibition at Exhibizone (Canada, 2026), Second Place in the 'Nature' Juried Art Exhibition at Upward Gallery (2026), Bronze Award in the Abstract Category at the Global Painting Conclave (Canada, 2026), Artist of the Month at Blue Koi Gallery (February 2026) and Camelback Gallery (USA, April 2026), and Top 20 Painting Artist in the 17th Abstracts Art Exhibition at Light Space & Time Art Gallery (USA, 2026). Alongside his ink practice, he explores black-and-white conceptual photography as an extended experiment, drawing direct inspiration from the themes and concepts found in his ink paintings. This unique approach has garnered recognition in global competitions, including the 2026 Exposure One Awards (Silver Award) and the 2025 Monochrome Photography Awards (Honorable Mention). Tran’s work has also been highlighted by Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and the Vietnam UNESCO Federation Magazine in 2026, and was selected for inclusion in Ho Chi Minh City university-level final examinations in 2025, reflecting both artistic merit and conceptual depth.
