Tzion Essel is a London-based artist and educator whose practice centres on narrative, storytelling, and an ongoing dialogue with the complexities of the human condition and our relationship to the natural world. Drawing from the traditions of classical art and the Pictorialist movement, his work adopts a cinematic, painterly, and monochromatic aesthetic to construct images that invite spiritual and philosophical reflection.
He has exhibited both in the UK and internationally, and his work has received multiple recognitions. He was recently shortlisted for the John Ruskin Art Prize and awarded Gold in the Paris Photo Awards for the Fine Art category. He holds a BA in Photography from Kingston University and an MA in Photography from the University of the Arts London.
His work has been published in Zone Magazine and Ephemere Tokyo. He is a member of the DG03 Collective and currently contributes to photographic education as a guest critic at Kingston University.
