About Artist
Peter Ismert
Peter Ismert is a wildlife and landscape photographer from the USA who pursues images of natural beauty and emotional connections in nature. He enjoys photographing with intention to capture candid moments in the wild. His nature photography pursuits began while spending his college summers at a remote forestry camp and conference facility just north of Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. He learned the art of photography the hard way by using film and processing black & white images in his darkroom. Digital imaging has taken over and Peter is just trying to keep up with the technology and processing techniques. The southern Rockies have been his photography home over the years, with frequent visits to wildlife and scenic hotspots in Colorado and Wyoming. In recent years he has traveled to Botswana, Zambia, Uganda, and Kenya to photograph animals ranging from the Big 5 to the smallest of birds. He grew up near Denver, Colorado where he had access to plenty of wild in the nearby Rocky Mountains. Peter currently lives in Denver but also spends time at his cabin in Crestone, CO. He is a recent retiree from his day job as an environmental scientist at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
