I wanted to photograph these magnificent primates with very close-up portraits. From the very first images, I understood that B&W would be essential to convey all the emotions. The essential thing for me was to reveal a look, an attitude, a mimicry, an intention.

About Artist

Patrice Quillard

In Africa, as a freelance photographer, I find direct, powerful, mystical, violent and hypnotic contact with wildlife. Wildlife photography allows me to express the intensity of the emotions I feel when in contact with nature. I like to convey through my images this fascinating world, fragile and ferocious, sometimes sublime. In 2022, the publication of the book "Le Chant de la Savane", co-written with my wife, is the culmination of 25 years of travel and adventure in Africa.
