Ascension
the towering geometry of a giraffe reduced to fur, shadow, and pattern. It reveals quiet elegance in every strand and marking; a portrait of Africa distilled into abstraction and form.

About Artist
Dave Sanderson
Dave has worked across every state and territory in Australia, mostly in remote and regional areas, and somewhere along the way developed a strong obsession with wildlife and nature photography. His work has been recognised through multiple International Photography Awards (IPA) shortlistings and Honourable Mentions, along with consecutive finalist appearances in the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year — widely regarded as one of the region’s leading nature photography awards. Drawn to moments that feel honest rather than manufactured, Dave’s photography often explores the relationship between wildlife, landscape, isolation, and industry. From harsh outback environments to fleeting animal behaviour, his focus is less about perfection and more about capturing something genuine before it disappears. His philosophy is straightforward: spend enough time outdoors, work hard, stay curious, and eventually the natural world gives you something worth noticing.
