Bio

Zoologist Mark Carwardine is an award-winning writer, best-selling author, magazine columnist, widely published photographer, international conservation consultant and lecturer. He presented the weekly half-hour programme Nature on BBC Radio 4 for many years, as well as many other programmes and mini-series for BBC Radio 4, and has appeared on hundreds of radio and TV programmes talking about wildlife, conservation and travel. He is currently co-presenting a six-part BBC2 series, Last Chance to See, with Stephen Fry – travelling around the world in search of endangered wildlife (due for broadcast in autumn 2009). Mark has written more than 40 books – including the best-selling Last Chance to See with Douglas Adams (author of The Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) and the most popular field guide to whales, dolphins and porpoises ever published – and wrote monthly columns in BBC Wildlife and Wanderlust magazines for many years. He is an active and outspoken conservationist and was recently voted one of the world’s most influential conservationists by an international panel of experts.
