When I’m not chasing elusive shots of wildlife or hanging out in urban environments capturing nature’s unlikely presence in cityscapes, I’m either in the woods near my Northern Idaho home or working on my latest passion project: a wildlife preserve that I run with my husband, Steve (aka Prince Charming), our three dogs (two Corgis and a Dachshund who think they’re wolves), and three cats. Yes, it’s a circus. And no, we don’t know what happened to the peace and serenity we were promised when we retired and moved to the Pacific Northwest. In 2024, I made the leap from a long career in Human Resources to focus full-time on conservation photojournalism. A jump, yes, but one grounded in purpose. My work is guided by the belief that change doesn’t happen overnight, but it does happen—through careful attention, everyday actions, and hope. Inspired by the philosophies of Jane Goodall and Sir David Attenborough, I am convinced that we can help our planet bounce back. In my lifetime, I’ve seen species we thought were lost forever make incredible comebacks, and landscapes I thought were beyond repair slowly recover. It’s not just a matter of hope but of action—and yes, even small actions have ripple effects.
