Heather was ten when she received her first camera. “Holding that small lime green Kodak box camera was magical. Being able to frame a part of life that continued long after the scene fell away was powerful.” Eventually she went on to study art, concentrating in photography. She describes printing her first image as one of the most influential moments in her life. “As the image slowly began to appear, I was completely mesmerized. It was then that I saw the power of photography, and how it gives visibility to the invisible.” Heather has always been drawn to capturing the feelings and emotions of the human condition. She aspires to create images that allow us to find an affinity with people “My camera is my brush, sculpting tool and palette. My studio is the chaotic market, the labyrinth of streets, and the narrowing pathways. Most importantly, my canvas is the diversity of humanity that enables me to expose inner strengths and character. In other words, to reveal universal similarities that we all share: courage and passion; dreams and determination; spirit and pride; as well as difficulty and fear.”
