Bio
I am a self-taught amateur photographer. I have been interested in photography since I was 15 years old. I started with an instamatic camera and moved up to an inexpensive Nikon 35MM film camera. I took pictures on and off for the next 15 years, mostly of landscapes, family and friends. I soon hit a roadblock though. At that time the only place for me to learn and advance my skills was the local library. With the cost of film and developing film only to find out my photo was out of focus, or the exposure was no good I gave up photography Photography will be my fourth career. Previously I was in the grocery business with a short and unsuccessful stint as a small grocery store owner. After that I was a soldier for 11 years. During that time, I completed a bachelor’s degree in computer science. When I left the Army, I started my third career as a software engineer. Now I am retired and taking up photography as a hobby and career. I am a father of four outstanding children. I have traveled a small portion of the world and definitely would like to see more. My goal, my mission, is to capture moments in time for you to enjoy. My inspiration is Ansel Adams for his amazing black and white landscapes. Helmut Newton for his provocative black and white nudes. All the Dutch master painters, especially Rembrandt, Johannes Vermeer, and Peter Paul Rubens. Rembrandt for his outstanding lighting and dark and moody paintings. Vermeer for his interesting portraits. Rubens for his authentic paintings of women.
