Gary Wagner, born in Chicago, discovered his passion for photography early and studied at Indiana University in Bloomington before continuing his education at the Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California. Now based in Southern Oregon, he has spent over four decades photographing landscapes throughout the United States and abroad. Working exclusively in black and white, Wagner emphasizes the essential shapes, lines, and tonal qualities of the landscape—an approach that closely reflects how he experiences a scene. His work expresses a deep respect for the natural beauty and order of the earth while conveying his personal vision of the land, sea, and light. Through his photography, Wagner continues to explore the expressive possibilities of black and white imagery and share his interpretation of the natural world.
