Bio

Dragoljub Zamurovic (Art Zamur) is a Serbian photographer and visual artist with a career spanning more than four decades. Educated as an architect in Belgrade and later trained in photography at the Faculty of Applied Arts, he developed a distinctive approach that connects architectural thinking with photographic vision. He began his career as a photojournalist for Ilustrovana Politika and worked with the international photo agency Gamma, Paris. His photographs have been published worldwide in leading magazines including National Geographic, TIME, and LIFE. His work includes multiple photo essays and covers for National Geographic Magazine, as well as numerous publications in LIFE, including one cover and features in the “Big Pictures” section. His published work is credited as “Art Zamur / Gamma.” Alongside documentary photography, Zamurovic has developed a strong body of fine art work focused on urban structures and visual abstraction. In series such as Belgrade from Above, Roof Art, and Urban Geometry from Above, he transforms architectural fragments into autonomous visual compositions. His images are built on rhythm, repetition, and structural clarity, often balancing precision with subtle traces of time and transformation. His work moves between documentation and abstraction, where real spaces become visual constructs. By reducing narrative elements, he allows form, light, and structure to carry meaning. Zamurovic is also the author of the internationally published monograph Gypsies of the World, released in the United States, Japan, Germany, Italy, England, and the former Yugoslavia. His photographic work has been included in major international cultural projects and publications, including editions related to Kazakhstan, Montenegro, Sarajevo, and the facsimile edition of the Sarajevo Haggadah. His photographs have received international recognition and awards in major photography competitions. He continues to exhibit globally and produce limited-edition fine art prints. His work explores the transformation of real space into visual order.
